Client Background

Novis Living is a respected real estate development company based in New York City with over 20 years of experience in urban housing projects. Their mission goes beyond real estate: they focus on building community through equitable housing and cooperative ownership.

THE challenge

Novis Living was competing to win a major redevelopment project in Harlem under a city program that empowers residents through cooperative housing. They needed a presentation and supporting materials that would:

  • Position them as the most community-focused, capable option.
  • Clearly communicate complex information to a multigenerational audience.
  • Be fully bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Foster trust and understanding among residents with varying education levels.

OUR APPROACH

We started by researching the community’s demographic, educational, and cultural dynamics. Our strategy prioritized:

  • Clarity and Simplicity: Using plain language and clear structure to increase understanding.
  • Visual Communication: Leveraging icons and imagery for universal comprehension.
  • Bilingual Access: Ensuring all materials were available in English and Spanish for inclusivity.

A compelling, easy-to-follow PowerPoint presentation that:

A visually appealing, easy-to-read brochure residents could take home:

  • Included contact info and a custom-designed QR code for easy access to the full presentation.

Designed to reflect the spirit of the project (using the motif of urban lights), the QR code served as a digital bridge, encouraging residents to revisit the presentation and discuss it with family members.

We collaborated directly with Novis Living’s founder to write a presentation script:

  • Ensured the delivery was polished, clear, and aligned with the visual slides.
  • Provided the interpreter with the script to facilitate a smooth bilingual delivery at the event.
